Golden oldies on a roll
It was a weekend of really magnificent bowls played in such good spirits and with great enthusiasm

There’s so much going on at the club that we’re hardly touching sides – on the go and having such fun.
Last week it was Irene Ross who came back and won a prize, and this week it’s welcome back to Jean Crane and she also won a prize – how wonderful for them. Don’t underestimate the ‘Golden Oldies’.
Fabulous news is that Spar Twilight Bowls will be starting on Wednesday, February 12, so if you have not received your invite or would like to join in the fun, do contact Lorraine Kirsten on 083-627-5698 or at RE/MAX. Do hurry, as you wouldn’t want to miss out on this fun-time event.
Keep your calendar handy because on February 14 (Valentine’s Day), Fatima Moola will be serving up her well-known curry evening. It would be appreciated if you could contact Janet Barnardo on 083-282-8079 to help with catering arrangements. You don’t want to miss this for anything!
The weekend in Volksrust turned out very well for our sister club, Harrismith, whose two star players walked away with the District Championship Singles. Congratulations and well done to Braam van Zyl and Ida Oosthuizen who both only lost one game to win the championship.
Where the Seniors were concerned, it was a clean sweep for Richards Bay who won both the Men’s (Barry Mutlow) and Ladies’ (Anita Scott) Senior District Singles Championship. They both also only lost one game on their way to the championship win and are to be congratulated on really good bowls. It was a weekend of really magnificent bowls played in such good spirits and with great enthusiasm. Volksrust Bowling Club made everyone feel most welcome and the arrangements could not be faulted, so we thank them for their good hosting.
