Biggest prize for Chelmsford Challenge winners

The main event winners walk away with R5 000 in prize money.

Open water swimming event, the Chelmsford Challenge is offering its biggest winners’ prize fund yet.

The first male and female athletes to complete the one kilometre main event respectively will walk away with R5 000 apiece, explained Newcastle Swimming Club member, Allison Fraser.

For the first time ever, there will also be a 3km swim for an even greater challenge.

The winner of this event will receive a weekend away at BonAni Safaris Resort, and the school team which records the most number of successful pupils receives a R1 000 prize.

Entries can be made online at www.chelmsfordchallenge.co.za and will also be received on the day (January 25).

Among guest swimmers will be Troyden Prinsloo, an Olympic swimmer who has represented South Africa many times at open water swimming events and has many medals to his name.
