Farewell to golf stalwart

On Saturday, January 18 a big field of golfers said farewell to Tony Venton by playing in his sponsored Four Ball Alliance competition.
Winning team with a score of 107 points was Richard Naidoo, Ram Ramwater, Terrance Stakes and Seo Mtetwa. Second place on 102 points went to Viren Omardath, Deejay Ramdhav, Kamy Baboolal and Mayur Baboolal.
Third place on 101 points went to Arnold and Gail Boettiger, Ajeesh Lalparsad and Moekie Ghasitha and fourth place to Frank Ashe, Phiwe Mabaso, Barry Erxleben and Vaughan Ric Hansen who had a score of 99 points. Closest to the pins were Melton Schiever (number three), Charlene Vlok (number seven), Richard Naidoo (number 12) and Ian Freeman (number 16) with Melton slotting his putt for the only two club of the day.
Prizes went all the way down to eleventh place ie all players received a prize.
A big thanks to our sponsor Tony and may he and Jenny enjoy a well earned retirement. The Wednesday combined stableford comp. was won by Gordon Smith and Harry Koovarjee with a score of 83 points and the Friday nine hole ind. stab. comp. by either Richard or Terrance on 19 points.
Wednesday (today) will be a BBBS comp unless otherwise decided and then on Saturday, January 25, thanks to the generosity of N3 Fire viz George van Niekerk, the comp. will be a Four Ball American Scramble. See notice board for all the details when you enter!
All golfers including beginners, veterans and the physically disabled are encouraged to enter.
To set the example Martin van Niekerk, still on crutches after his back op, will be entering!
