The spotlight… That is what Trevor Kirsten was under when he and partner Pradeep Singh won the Evening Bowls on Friday night. Well done, Trevor, supplementing the lights with a torch to show the way to the ‘jack’. It was really super playing in the cool of the evening and everyone enjoyed it immensely, with the curry and rice supper being a fitting end to a lovely event. Well done, Shenaaz and Janet.
Congratulations to Barbara Baleri on being runner-up in the District Ladies’ Masters Championship, going down to Ronel Greef of Richards Bay. Good bowls was the order of the day in Newcastle over the weekend, and it is a great honour to get to the top in the District Masters. In the men’s section, Sid Price beat Norman Forbes, both from Newcastle. It bodes well for the District to have such good bowlers coming through in the championships.
This weekend sees the Midlands Mixed Pairs being played at The Nest, and we wish all those participating good bowling and good luck.
