Horseplay at annual gymkhana event

Locals, Anton van der Schyff and Armand van den Berg were among the top riders.

There was much horsing about at Majuba Tentpegging Club’s annual gymkhana last Saturday.

A total of 18 senior and 22 junior riders from across the country, including Durban, Bethlehem, Vryheid, Normandien, Memel, Harrismith and Newcastle competed for top honours.

Both riders and spectators enjoyed a fine day out.

Anton van der Schyff Junior (Vryheid Landbou) was the best male rider of the day, and the senior Victor Ludorum, while Armand van den Berg (Majuba) was the best male in the junior division.

Beverly Baksa (Okusha Durban) was the Victrix Ludorum, while Armand and Jani Potgieter (Memel) took home the junior prizes for male and female respectively.

Organisers thanked all sponsors who contributed to the success of the event.

A special vote of thanks was also made to Mariana Collyer, who spent all day in the blazing sun to judge the event, and Majuba club members for their diligence on the day.

The following event will be on March 29 at Memel, and all riders are wished the best of luck.
