Astro-turf proposal rejected

A proposition to upgrade hockey facilities at the Arbor Park grounds has been rejected by municipal officials.

Confidential sources confirmed the proposal to install an AstroTurf was turned down owing to the hefty R8-million price tag, resulting in the item being excluded.

The source added, however, this idea had not completely been ruled out.

While roads and other infrastructure were being prioritised, the source said officials planned to seek cooperative funding, also looking into the possibility of funding the AstroTurf through additional grant capital.
