Bowlers play under lights, not moonlight

Yes, we are still in full swing with the Spar Twilight Business League, and Wednesday will see who comes out on top of the log. This week, the positions are as follows: Microsure leads from Nampak, and Neal’s Tyres are not far behind. It will be interesting to see what happens next!
Friday evening’s Italian lasagne brought out all the pasta fans, who really enjoyed their evening meal after playing 12 ends under lights – not moonlight! A big thank you to Eros and Barbara for putting it all together.
Saturday proved to be a perfect day to finish off the rained-out Pairs Championships. Congratulations to the winners of the Mixed Pairs, Graham and Barbara Elworthy, who had a good game against Oscar and Barbara Baleri. The Men’s Pairs winners were Bertus van der Westhuizen and Cor Kleynhans, who beat Braam van Zyl and Chris Opperman into the runner-up spot. Magriet Coetzee and Veronica Malan rolled over Ria Mapp and Ida Oosthuizen in the Ladies’ Pairs. Congratulations to the Klipbank members for making it a clean sweep in the championships.
The ‘Big Trek’ for all the District players gets underway this weekend, with the Open side travelling to Bloemfontein, the ‘B’ side travelling to East London, and the Seniors to Pretoria. Our best wishes for a good tournament go with all the sides, and especially our wishes for a safe journey there and back.
On the home front, there is the start of the Club Mixed Pairs on Saturday at 2pm. Shenaaz is waiting for you to enter your names on the list, so hurry and don’t miss out.
From all the members, we want to say congratulations to Terry and Jean Crane who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary last weekend. You have reached an amazing milestone in your lives and we wish you many more years of happiness together!
