A good example for the SAPS

MPHUMZENI MBATHA, a local policeman came in seventh place at the Mortimer Toyota Battlefields 4-in-1 race that was held by the Newcastle Harriers Club in Newcastle on the February 8.

Mphumzeni, who started running in 2009, finished the 42.2km marathon in 02:15:59 and said that he was very proud of his achievement.

This policeman says that he started running with the motive to take part in the Comrades Marathon because he believed that one should take part in that marathon atleast once in their lifetime.

From there his love for running grew and he has since taken part in many other marathons including the Soweto City-to-City Marathon.

The local SAPS extended their gratitude to Mphumzeni for helping motivate his colleagues to keep fit especially as this is important for every police officer nation-wide.
