On Saturday the Wessel Maree/Mike Brown Memorial golf weekend started in Estcourt playing a betterball stableford.
A strong entry from Gauteng, Ladysmith, Mooi River and Estcourt resulted in 54 players taking part.
The front nine was well contested but in the end Estcourt’s Moekie Ghasitha and import partner from Dundee, Razak Khan scored 26 points on the back nine and a total of 46 points.
There were no less than four teams on 45 points with the count out going to Gauteng’s A van der Fyver and S Quigly, also on 45 points C Snell and A Campbell.
The longest drive was Cris Snell, longest putt on number two Doug Mungay and closest to pin Graham McLuckie.
Two clubs went to Terrance Stakes, A vd Vyfer and Jeremy Brown.
All the players carried their scores to Gowrie in Nottingham Road where the combined scores will determine the ultimate winners.
The weather did not play its part with the result that only nine holes were played at Gowrie.
The overall winners being Cris Snell and A Campbell followed by A van der Vyfer and S Quigly and third our own Wilfie Laatz and Tony Venton.

Wednesdays golf seems to be picking up with 18 players taking part.
The winners on 47 points were Robbie Wattrus and visitor Sarel Meyer who was also closest to the pin on number three.
Second on 43 points were visitors Ash Ranoo and Sage Pillay and third going to Arnold and Harry also on 43. Two clubs were made by Gail and Vaughn.
This Saturday is a betterball.
