Bowlers determined to get to the prizes
This weekend will see the completion of the club competition and it is going to be interesting to see who gets the trophy

Bowlers are really super people – we ask and you give! The Anderson Trips Tournament was a feast of eats for tea and lovely salads at lunch. What can I say, “Thank you, thank you, thank you”. Your generosity was much appreciated. Janet Barnardo, your home-cooked cold meat and jelly & custard was inspired on such a hot day.
To Craig Anderson, we say a big thank you for your generous sponsorship with prizes that were really worth fighting for. Make no mistake, they were all determined to get to the prizes! Tournament secretary Shenaaz Singh managed to enlist 20 teams to participate in the day, providing some excellent bowls. Well done, Shenaaz! The winners were Barbara Baleri, Cor Kleynhans and Donovan Fischer; closely followed by Bergville’s team of Gavin Robinson, Courtney Gace and Carol Unsworth; and right on their heels were Graham, Barbara and John Elworthy. The longest-running sponsorship at Klipbank is really very much appreciated.
The De Franca’s Spar Twilight League will be coming to a close this week and no doubt there will be many who will say “now what can I do on Wednesday?” Wait for September when the new league will kick off, with the usual fun and good sportsmanship on show. Microsure, Nampak and Neal’s Tyres are the teams to beat, and they can be beaten by any of the teams who are close on their heels. It just takes one upset in a game to turn the results around, so keep going – you never know what might happen.
The Club Mixed Pairs got off to a good start, with some sections completed and the others waiting for the District bowlers to come home. This weekend will see the completion of the club competition and it is going to be interesting to see who gets the trophy.
Friday (being a public holiday) will be used to play the Pro 10 Pairs, which goes on to District level and will be played by the winners of each club. Shenaaz is waiting for your call to enter on 083-792-8415, so hurry to get in there!
Congratulations to Jono and Natasha Thurlow on the safe arrival of their son, Cody, much to the delight of grandparents Eros and Chandre Jannon. May he bring you much pleasure and love.
“Live, love and LOL with bowls – life is great, so enjoy it”.
