Running from Bergville to Ladysmith
This year saw the famous race being run for the 49th time

The N3TC Arthur Cresswell Memorial Marathon was run this morning (Saturday). This year saw the famous race being run for the 49th time. The 52km race started at the old Farmers’ Hall (Bencor) in Bergville at 6am. It was a chilly start, with the temperature being at 7 degrees when the runners hit the road. The race continued along the Bergville road and up Childs Hill, where many opted to walk up this steep incline. The runners proceeded all the way to the Indoor Sports Complex in Ladysmith. The winner of the 52km, Katam Kiengetrich, did it in a time of 3:06.11. This is a Comrades qualifier and all those who finished within the six-and-a-half-hour cut-off time can be very pleased with themselves. However, there were some runners who did not make it. There were many water tables along the way, with Dunlop winning the best sponsored table and the Scouts winning the best non-sponsored table. Well done to all those who took part!
