Pranesh on building up his passion
Pranesh Harripersad’s passion for cars was kindled at the age of 16, when he started helping his father build up cars.
Now at the age of 27, Pranesh is captivated by the mechanics and visuals of cars to such an extent that he devotes virtually all his free time to building up cars. “I am into Show and Shine, which is the full thing from the interior, sound and engine,” he said.
With the aid of his father, Pranesh acquires cars, strips them down and rebuilds them, realising his vision of beauty. “I have kept three of the cars I have rebuilt and the others I have sold. For me, the end product is the best part of building up cars.While it is a costly game, it is worth it. You can stand back and say that you have built it and be proud of the end product,” said Pranesh. Not surprisingly, competing in Show and Shine competitions followed.
“I have taken part in 27 competitions, from Newcastle to Ladysmith and Durban, and have won them all within the top three positions. I have actually appeared in the Sunday Times and Speed and Sound magazine because of my cars and will be doing my second shoot for Speed and Sound this year.” Despite the cost and time involved, Pranesh said he would encourage others to take up rebuilding cars.
“The sense of accomplishment is really worth it.”
