Fred Vickers’ sponsored Skaapdag Golf Day was a huge success and as always Fred had a twist in the scoring system, a team discarded a low score on a hole and used the mystery hole number 17 to double their score.

In the end after coming first, a team ended third, sixth ended up eighth and so on. The overall winners were Doc Chotu and Kammy Baboolal on 53, Carlo Piagesti and Peter Wood (who posted a nett 63) on 52 on c/o from Paddy Geraty and Fred Vickers.

Both made two clubs and with all the meat they won, could open a butchery! They won on count out from Dave Diedrick and uncle Ram, with the prizes going to ninth place.
Closest to pin number three went to Roy Unsworth. Two club by Viren Omardath. Big thank you to Freddie for a well sponsored day. The next Skaapdag on July 30 will be sponsored by Paul Fick. The Kippen & Ass sponsored four-ball alliance on Wednesday was well supported by locals and visitors.

Choosing your own team does not always work as the quickly put together team of Phillip Boshoff, Harry Koovarjee, Moekie Ghasitha and Luke Schiever took the winners prize on 104 points followed by Dave McFie (who made the only two club [R170]), Colin Francis and Willem Erasmus who made a welcome return to golf.

On 98 were Paddy Geraty, Fred Vickers (again), Paul Fick and Trevor Livesey. They also won the jackpot. Thanks to Graham Kippen for a wonderful day. There were two bad luck incidents on Wednesday, playing their matchplay, when Arnold’s ball on the eighth struck Vaughn on the temple, (he is ok) but could not continue.

Arnold’s bad luck is that the match has to be replayed without penalty.  The Friday nine hole was won by Sarah McFie, all the way from the Cape.

NB: If there is a vacant slot on the entry form for golf, any player is at liberty to enter his name in that slot.
