Anglers were frustrated in the first half of the day, as the bait untouched after several casts.

As the day progressed, however, anglers started to reel in the fish in quick succession, while some still had no luck.

Glencoe Angling Club drew a Zone A encounter with Chelmsford.

The visitors clinched a narrow victory, with the final score 13 points to 12.

Newcomers to the NFWAA, Endumeni took on Riverside in Zone C, and anglers had to work for points on the board.

It was Riverside which secured the win, by 11 points to four.

Docrats went head-to-head with the mighty Itec Freespool in Zone E, but was simply no match for the defending champions.

Anglers were left speechless at the weigh-in, as Freespool recorded a massive 60 points, to Docrats’ 15.

Freespool angler, Ski Mohan earned himself the prizes for the heaviest scaled fish, reeling in a whopper of 3,4 kilogrammes.

Ahmed Dawood of Glencoe caught the heaviest non-scaled fish, with an eel of 1,8kg.

The highets points scorer of the day was undoubtedly Gareth Hendricks of Freespool, who added 14 points to his personal tally.

After the weekend, the log table is all tied up.

Freespool and Riverside both have six points, Chelmsford and Glencoe are deadlocked on three each, and Docrats and Endumeni share last place.

NFWAA anglers are working hard towards the top five position in their respective clubs.

Anglers who make this cut stand a chance of competing in the Ebees Express Top Five at the end of the season, with R3 000 cash up for grabs.

The NFWAA executive is also in the process of securing additional prizes for a surprise category.

Competitive angling is on pause for the next two months, due to religious celebrations and fasting periods, and will resume in early November with the Streetwire Knockout
