This weekend’s Impi Hard Enduro Ride is a welcome tourist boost for the district with over 400 riders, back-up crews and family and friends filling up accommodation establishments in the area.
They are here to tackle arguably the toughest GPS-guided event in the country.
The three-day event is currently unfolding in the unforgiving Elandskraal/Msinga area. The action started on October 13 with the prologue followed by the event proper that started yesterday, Friday, and continues today. Saturday.
This is the third year that the Impi is being held and the local organisers, Craig van Heerden (who has a sack full of Roof of Africa races under his dusty riding boots) and Willem Wentzel, say they are honoured and pleased that Msingi Municipality has this year come on board as a major sponsor as is Motual Vryheid Petroleum.

Over R80 000 will be spent on purchasing sporting equipment and sports clothing to be donated to the communities in the Msinga area. Some top riders will be tackling the terrain set by Craig and Willem.
. Spectators are encouraged to come down and be part of this epic event. Spectator maps will be available at our registration table. The Impi will be televised about three weeks after the event on one of the SuperSport channels on DSTV (details to follow).
