A SOFT spoken and quite private person, New Vryheid Country Club President Sunjay Bennie says that it was the great networking opportunities that drew him to golf.
Having moved to Vryheid 26 years ago, Sunjay says that despite having not had much time for sports earlier in his life, he came across the sport as a means to socialise and has been playing for nine years.
“The great thing about it is that it is a relaxed sport and it has helped me form very good business relationships,” he said.
Originally born in Howick, this husband and father of two moved to Vryheid to work for a construction company. He then went on to open Siyaxhasana Construction cc. with Wayne Bisset.
“I left school and went straight into construction. I started off as an administration clerk and worked my way up from there,” said Sunjay.
He is currently a qualified quantity surveyor and loves what he does.
On being elected as the new president of the golf club, Sunjay says that he does not believe managing things there will be a difficult task as they have a great team.
“It is a responsible position, but I’m not worried about anything because there is a supporting committee and we all work well together,” he said.
The new committee members are Captain: Hennie Venter , Vice Captain: Riaan Boshoff , Ladies Captain: Chantelle Solms , Treasurer: Cindy Van Heusten , Secretary: Annalise Erasmus
Additional Committee Members: Thinus Prinsloo, Gordon Foster, Kovie Lombard & Juan Erasmus
