18 teams for a full weekend of bowls
The winners of the tournament travelled from Amanzimtoti, so that was a worthwhile trip for them

This past weekend saw Klipbank host the Moths Tiny’s Trips tournament. The numbers were less than last year, but still they managed to get 18 teams for a full weekend of bowls.
The format was three games of 12 ends on Saturday and one game of 15 ends on Sunday. The tournament really began on Friday night, when the teams got together at Siegetown and were treated to a delicious burger with all the trimmings. The refreshments flowed freely and they also had karaoke. Needless to say, there was plenty of laughter.
How some of the bowlers managed to make it to Klipbank the next morning to eat breakfast and then head out to the greens beats me, but it just goes to show you how committed these bowlers are!
Tea and lunch was served at Klipbank and then it was back to Siegetown to braai for supper and once again, lots of refreshments. The Moths had a DJ called Pinky play for them for the weekend, and she really got everybody up and dancing – all in all, a tremendous weekend.
Sunday morning saw everybody back at Klipbank for breakfast and then the final game.
Prize-giving was up first and the Sergeant Major of the Ladysmith Moths came up with the idea that (instead of fines) players could buy a bingo card for R5, with the winner winning a trip to Mauritius.
Every card was snapped up and guess what? Every card got “Bingo”. Everybody took it in the spirit it was meant and some funds were raised for a good cause. Lunch was then served and a huge thank you must go to Lindy, Jenny and Charlotte who worked extremely hard all weekend to keep all these hungry bowlers well fed.
The winners of the tournament travelled from Amanzimtoti, so that was a worthwhile trip for them.
District Mixed Pairs will be played at Klipbank this coming weekend.
