All even-stevens in Bowls Business League
With the annual Friedmann Tournament only nine days away, members are working hard to have all arrangements finalised in time.
The second round of the Kirkland Auctioneers Bowls Business League was completed on Thursday evening.
The top teams of each section are pretty much even after the two rounds. Once again winter reared its ugly head but that didn’t stop one and all from having a great evening of bowls and fellowship!
The leaderboard after round 2 is as follows:
Section 1: Rabco 6 +11, Komzani 6 + 9 and Braytons 6 + 2.
Section 2: Flower Power 6 + 29, Dabmar 6 + 22 and LRA 6 + 13.
Play starts at 6pm and teams must be present by 5.45pm. For those who prefer not to braai, the SPCA will be selling food on the evening. For those that would like to braai fires will be lit, so bring your basket, family and friends along and come and enjoy the evening with us.
This past weekend saw the Northern Zone Open Men’s and Ladies Singles being played in Newcastle. Congratulations to Greg, Des, Nan, Sylvia, Essie and Jo-Ann for representing Dundee, Trevor Smale from Newcastle won the men’s section. Sylvia played Alice Howe from Newcastle in the ladies final but unfortunately lost 21-15. Well done again to club members who participated.
The Kings Tournament will be played in Newcastle this coming Saturday. Six teams from Dundee have entered. Good bowling to all taking part and safe travels.
Friedmann Tournament
With the annual Friedmann Tournament only nine days away, members are working hard to have all arrangements finalised in time. This promises to be an excellent weekend of bowls with 168 players from around the country participating. Thank you to all members who have put their names on the list, there are only a few spots open, so please, those wanting to participate, get your names down quick. Readers are invited to please come down to the club and join in the fun and festivities that are planned for this momentous weekend.
