There is a need for younger candidates so if you would like to expose your child to this wonderful sport kindly contact Dougie 082 934 4547 or Hannelie 072 122 8667 for further information.

Junior bowlers are in the spotlight this week. Coaching has begun at the Dundee Bowls Club ahead of the Bowls South Africa National Championship to be held in Bloemfontein in April next year.
On Monday and Tuesday afternoons, Dougie and Essie Slabbert, as well as Hannelie Arndt, take time out of their busy schedules to coach a number of up-and-coming junior bowlers from here and surrounds.
The National Championship is a wonderful platform for u/15 and u/20-year-olds to showcase their talent as well as represent their district, KZN Country Bowls, which consists of many different towns: Pongola, Piet Retief, Newcastle, Ladysmith, Harrismith, Estcourt, and Dundee.
Dougie mentions that he, as manager, steered the then u/19 KZN Country Bowls side to win gold in the Championship in both 2014 and 2015.
He says that it’s wonderful working with the youngsters and sharing in their achievements. However, he urges the youngsters to continue with their bowls after school and to not give up on the sport as bowls is a sport for any age.
