Thanks to Elrien Wait and her team for a delicious meal which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thanks also to Sylvia and Louisa for decorating the hall so beautifully. Mike Cherry was the guest speaker – thank you, Mike, for your encouraging words. However, the club would not be able to have had an evening like this without the achievements the bowlers have made throughout the year. Congratulations to the following winners:
Most Improved Male Player – Louis “Baksteen” de Jager;
Most Improved Female Player – Jo-Ann Melville;
Most Dedicated New Player – Brian Hesom;
Novice Singles – Jo-Ann Melville;
Mixed Pairs – Greg Conolly and Jo-Ann Melville;
Men’s Open Singles – Des Johnson;
Men’s Handicap Singles – Louis “Baksteen” de Jager;

The “stirrers of the year” went to Jacques Bierbaum and Alida Denny! Nan was also crowned player of the year – congratulations Nan. You truly make the club very proud. A very prestigious award went to Greg Conolly who won the president’s award for exceptional service and dedication to the bowling club. Well done Greg! We look forward to our 2018 calendar.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for the week is not looking great but the club hopes to have some play in the Kirkland Auctioneers Bowls Business League tomorrow. Greg will be in contact with the skips to make the necessary arrangements. The Bowls Toy Run is just around the corner so please come and join on Saturday, December 16 for a good cause.

It doesn’t matter if you can bowl or not, it’s all about fun and serving our community. Please bring along R20 as well as a toy and the club will ensure that the toys will be distributed just in time for Christmas.
Upcoming events: December 16, Bowls Toy Run. Any potential new bowlers are welcome to contact Sylvia Malan (081 046 8140) or any committee member to try out your hand at this wonderful game.
