Dundee to host Northern KZN Golf Open
The Friday 10 hole meat competition sponsored by Richard Catlett.
This coming Sunday, January 21, will see Dundee Country Club once again hosting the Northern KZN Open Golf Championships played over 36 holes.
This competition always attracts a number of the best amateur golfers in the province and this year will be no exception thanks to the generous sponsorship from Farmers Agri-Care Dundee. Players will tee off from as early as 7am and therefore the golf course will be closed to social golfers until 3pm.
The January Monthly Mug competition was played on Saturday, January 6, and winning his first ever Mug in the A Division was Kevin Donaldson. Marc Bradbury was an easy winner of the Men’s B division Mug when shooting a net 67. The prize for the best Gross Score went to Jo Khumalo.
The Ladies B division Mug was tied between Debbie Catlett and Lorien De Wit and these two ladies will play off for the January Mug in next month’s competition. Mel Janse Van Rensburg won the Mug in the ladies C division.
The Friday 10 hole meat competition sponsored by Richard Catlett attracted eleven players this past Friday which saw Walter Du Plessis picking up first prize after scoring 21 points followed by Mark Nero and Blessing Chiwaya who both scored 20 points.
Saturday’s Club competition was played in the Combined Stableford format, with both Lorien De Wit and her partner Heinrich Meyer playing a solid round of golf to win the competition on 78 points.
The Mbatha brothers of Aaron and Patrick scored 74 points to finish second.
There were four players who managed to record a 2 Club on the day and they were, Henk Booysen, Lorien De Wit and Heinrich Meyer all on the 4th hole, while Kallie Roets made his 2 Club on the 12th hole.
