The Amajuba District Municipality, together with three other local municipalities, participated in the 2019 Department of Sports and Recreation SALGA Games from December 12 to 15.
The SALGA Games took place in the eThekwini Municipality and began with a parade led by various dignitaries, eThekwini Metro Mayor, Cllr Mxolisi Kaunda and Amajuba District Mayor, Dr Musa Ngubane.

The parade began at the Durban City Hall and made its way to the newly launched promenade at the Durban beachfront.
Participants from the Amajuba District were sent off on December 12 (Thursday) at an event held at the Amajuba TVET College, where Mayor Ngubane congratulated all who had committed to taking part in the various sporting codes.
He wished them a safe journey and success in the games and emphasised the importance of good behaviour and self-discipline in order to uphold the good reputation of the district.

He also encouraged the team to bring home as many gold medals as possible in order to surpass ‘last year’s number two position’.
“Congratulations to all the participants for making it thus far. Sports is an important factor in promoting a healthy lifestyle, social cohesion and fighting the scourge of drug abuse and teenage pregnancy,” said Mayor Ngubane.
