Where have the parking meters gone?

MYSTERY surrounds the disappearance of the parking meters in the CBD over the weekend. We’re trying to get more information in this matter and will publish what we know in this week’s Vryheid Herald. The introduction of these meters some years ago never filled us with much delight although they did create parking in Church Street, where previously every space seemed to be occupied all day by the vehicles of those working in the nearby businesses. The meters were supposed to create some revenue for the municipality, but we’ve heard that in all the years NOT ONE CENT has been paid by the managing company to the municipality. NOT ONE CENT. If this is true, then verily, we were conned in the first place.
