English country elegance with a dash of home
“I like to keep up with the latest trends. I plant different flowers depending on the seasons, and depending on how I feel. My garden is not by the book.”
How does one describe a home that someone has invested time, love and quite a bit of money into to make it absolutely perfect?
During a visit to the home of Andrè and Marie Kotzè, their love for making their home beautiful is inspiring.
The Kotzés left no stone unturned while working towards the perfect space for them to share their lives together.
“I love flowers and my garden has 150 rose bushes, something that I am very proud of,” said Mrs Kotzé. “My garden and my house are constantly changing. If I feel like putting a plant here, I do it.”
The beautiful gardens are everything but by the book. Mrs Kotzé took it upon herself to create a space where her creativity could flourish. Mr Kotzé also had his hands busy, as he renovated and rebuilt the bathrooms and installed closets by himself.
The painted interior walls bring a light, airy feel to the home, sunlight bathing the his-and-hers bathrooms in a warm luminescence in the afternoons, and a bright, sunny glow in the mornings.
Mrs Kotzé decorates her home, inside and out, purely from ideas she gets from magazines or whatever comes to mind.
“I like to keep up with the latest trends. I plant different flowers depending on the seasons, and depending on how I feel. My garden is not by the book.”
Walking down the driveway one immediately notices the abundance of colour, the dark greens and light greens complementing the bright, exotic colours of the flowers.
For Mrs Kotzé, the time spent makng her garden and her home a beautiful retreat from every day life, is paying off, culminating in a space of wonder and beauty.
