Making waves on an international stage
The reason for his overseas trip was to further enhance his standing on the international DJ stage at a music conference

While some were dreaming of a white Christmas amid a sweltering December month, Philani Manyoni also known as DJ Mpiloz was living this dream.
The young man spent Christmas and New Year in the United States of America, where he visited states like New York, Philadelphia, Miami and Chicago.
The reason for his overseas trip was to further enhance his standing on the international DJ stage at a music conference.
Readers would remember that DJ Mpiloz was in the USA last year, where he met and collaborated with big name DJs.
During his recent trip between December 24 and January 19, he met and worked with DJs like Sharon Brown, Junior Lopez (Jennifer Lopez’s brother) and Spaz-Vybz.
“It was an awesome experience. Besides working with these DJs, the spirit of Christmas was everywhere. It was exactly like we see on television with snowmen and Christmas trees. I was in New York on New Year’s Eve and there was a spectacular fireworks display.
We also shot a documentary of my life. It started in South Africa before I boarded the plane and documents my journey overseas. It will follow the theme of a small town DJ making a name internationally,” explained DJ Mpiloz.
He sincerely thanks Umtshezi Municipality, Dr Ntuli and Dr Mzinyane for sponsoring the R30 000 needed for this trip.
