Khulisa Open Home and Garden event a success
Many guests could not stop talking about the homes, and here and there engaged in a friendly banter.
Residents took to homes and gardens in Newcastle on Saturday for the once in a lifetime opportunity to admire the beautiful spaces created by some of the most creative minds in town.
Guests were enthralled by the enchanting gardens and interesting décor on display, many stealing ideas for their own homes and gardens.
Starting at 10am, residents could visit the homes in any order they wished, taking a stroll through the roses in Andrè and Marie Kotze’s garden, to enjoying the fantastical interior décor musings of the Haus of Avalon, right to taking a stroll in the terraced French garden of Gerhard and Heila van Heerden.
At 3 pm, the residents who opened their homes locked the gates, and breathed a sigh of relief as the last visitors drove to Avalon Guest Manor for a final glance at the evergreen gardens that Siephan Atterbury had created, and a cup of tea.

The event, organised by Khulisa, was in aid of early education programmes. According to Paul Bushell, the day was a success.
“It was a great day and it went really well. Thank you to everyone that helped me make it possible,” said Mr Bushell.
