Load-shedding suspended
The municipality is preparing a schedule that will be published on our site and on Facebook
Load-shedding has been suspended for the time being.
Eskom has confirmed that the power grid is handling the needs of the country and should there be any need to load-shed again, ample warning will be given.
The municipality is preparing a schedule that will be published on our site and on Facebook for future load-shedding events, should they occur.
The town is divided into four areas and if load-shedding should take place again in the future, each area will be turned off for three hours at a time, effectively meaning three hours off and six hours on. The times of the power cuts for each area will vary day-to-day.
Update: Judy Wood, Manager of the Ladysmith Chamber Of Commerce & Industry, commented that: Please be advised that I spoke to the Electricity Department today and they have not received notice from Eskom that load shedding is required today, so the supply of power should remain stable. However, this can change. Please note, for future reference, that while ESKOM does put load shedding schedules for areas onto their website, it is extremely difficult for the ELM to stick to such schedules as they have to balance the load at all times. I am working with the ELM to get THEIR schedule if this should happen again. We will endeavour to give notice of proposed outages, but cannot guarantee it.
