The elements at war

Power outages, fierce storms and the water arrears write-off have dominated headlines this week

Power outages, fierce storms and the water arrears write-off have dominated headlines this week.
Frustration mounted this weekend when Colita residents went without electricity for almost 50 hours. Most residents were concerned about masses of food that was lost and called on the municipality for compensation. The Municipal Manager is having none of that and has stated that the power outage was unpredictable and thus no one was entitled to any compensation.
Another hot topic is the water account arrears write-off. Since it was announced last week, there’s been mixed reactions from residents, some relieved, some angered.
And with Ward Four by-elections coming up next Wednesday, this week should be an eventful one too.
