Well done to Newcastle police

KZN police seem to have been one step behind from the very start. It is only hoped that Free State police fare better.

When Marcel Blandin De Chalain went missing from his home in Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, his parents had no idea that close to two days later, police would have failed to catch his abductor.  See full stories here

Johan de Beer snatched Marcel on Sunday in the family’s white Ford Ranger bakkie. Initial sightings of the stolen vehicle were made on Sunday evening at around 8pm.

He told people that he was going to Harrismith and true to his word, he did. Despite a massive manhunt in Bethlehem, organised last night, he managed to elude police. How? Simply put, he did not stop in Bethlehem. In fact, while police and community members were searching Bethlehem, he was already in Bloemfontein.

And at the last minute, they pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat and find missing Marcel.

Congratulations must go to Captain Flip Classens and his team.
