Just when we thought sanity was about to prevail at our local Kremlin (municipality) along comes a dirty tricks scandal to blow all our hopes out of the window.

A fake e-mail, containing insults about black Councillors and the (Indian) acting municipal manager, followed up by a poster – depicting the image of the alleged writer of the e-mail, Desiga Padayachee, have caused much trauma.

Mr Padyachee has strongly denied the allegation and quite rightly says why would he use a work computer to generate such a damning e-mail?  Obviously trickery is afoot and needs to be thoroughly investigated.

The conspirators need to be swiftly brought to book so we eventually get the municipality doing what they are supposed to do – serve.

At Caxton, every story is written by humans. We use AI only to perform quality checks - never to generate the news. Happy reading!
