The intense cold this morning had many shivering under their layers of clothes.  Workers cuddle around fires and/or heaters and drink warm beverages to keep warm.

The sun shines but it’s warming effect is about nil.  But what about those who do not even have a decent house in which to live in – never mind keep warm.

In Dundee and Endumeni there are homeless people who probably irritate us everyday with their begging for money and food. But when the sun sets, they retreat under their grubby blankets outside shops in the CBD and try and sleep.

How do we react?  We cannot give blankets and a home to everyone. That’s the Government’s job, is it not?  But what about some compassion, some food, warm clothes.  The needs is just about as extreme as the cold.
