Shailin and Trisha Lalloo have found that love comes from where you least expect.

Meeting

“We had known each for a while because of mutual friends, but we really didn’t talk much,” said Trisha.

In 2010, when Trisha was in college, all changed and their relationship began to flourish.

“Shailin was there with friends of his. He had my number somehow and we started talking on a daily basis and eventually got closer. We got to know each other and started dating for over four years before getting married,” Trisha explained.

Knowing they were meant for each other

Trisha said from the beginning there was something different about Shailin, about the way he looked at her, to the way he made her felt.

“We just got on well from the beginning of our relationship. Everything about him felt right. He made me happy and he still does. We can talk about anything and just be ourselves around each other.

Shailin said he knew Trisha was the one for him because of the way they could communicate.

“I am able to talk to her about anything; from the night out with the boys, the awful day at work and even the ingrown toenails! I am able to say it all without feeling judged, embarrassed or uncomfortable. That’s not to say she won’t sometimes disapprove of something I have done, but we are able to communicate, compromise and work things out. All that confirmed she was the one for me.”

Proposing

After dating for four-and-a-half years, Shailin proposed to Trisha on her 21st birthday.

“He first organised a surprise party for me and when it was time for the gifts, he stood in front of me, pulled out a box from his pocket and in front of all the guests, he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I started crying and instantly said yes,” recalled Trisha, adding Shailin had got her father’s permission in advance.

Wedding preparations

While everyone would agree wedding planning was stressful, Trisha said she and Shailin were fortunate to have families who rallied together.

“Shailin’s mum and sister took every bit of the planning upon themselves, as did my mum and two wonderful sisters,” explained Trisha.

Trisha said she and Shailin were left with nothing to worry about.

“We are really grateful for all their help,” said Trisha.

Shailin’s message to Trisha

“If you replace l in life with w, you get wife. That is because life isn’t worth living without a lovely wife like you. I love you baby.”

Trisha’s message to Shailin

“I have never been more confident in any decision I have made, than choosing to spend the rest of my life with you. I knew right from the start you were the perfect man for me. Our relationship has been nothing short of extraordinary and you reminded me, time and time again, why I fell in love with you in the first place. Rather than being scared of what the future will hold or what could have been without you, I am completely content with how my life has played out. If I could live my life a thousand times over, I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing. From the moment we met, I just had this feeling about you. It’s the feeling that kept us together through our ups and downs. It’s the feeling that helped us stay strong and it’s the same feeling that saw us take our big step into marriage. The feeling I’m talking about is, of course, LOVE. And Shailin; I love you, I always will.”
