Honouring the appearance of Lord Rama

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) celebrated the appearance of Lord Rama on last Friday evening.

Devotees gathered at the Iskcon temple for satsangs and spiritual discourse on the meaning of the auspicious day.

According to belief, whenever there is a decline in religion, the Lord appears, millennium after millennium.

When Lord Rama comes to the world he is not born like ordinary human beings.

When there is a need for the protection of his devotees he makes an appearance.

The Supreme Lord incarnates in many forms like Matsya, Varaha, and Narsimha. All these forms are very attractive and devotees take great pleasure in talking about his pastimes.

One such famous incarnation of the Supreme Lord is Lord Rama.

The birth of Lord Rama is celebrated as Rama Navami.

Lord Rama was born to King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya in Ayodhya.

He had three younger brothers, Bharata, Lakshmana and Shatrughna.

The main significance of Ram Navami is the celebration of the character of Lord Rama as an ideal son, an upright husband, a righteous king, a loving brother and an ideal person who follows the right path against all odds in life.

He was a true embodiment of humanity.

Ram Navami is a special way to remember all the noble deeds performed by Lord Rama.

It is not only a festival to enjoy and have fun, but also an occasion when many ideals can be learned and taught. It is a celebration of goodness and the victory against all evil.
