There were no April fools at the 2016 Balele Rally.
Hundreds of bikers flocked to Utrecht’s caravan park on April 1, setting a record attendance count of more than 900 visitors.
The event was officially opened by Mayor, Vusi Ndlovu.
“At this ceremony, the Balele Rally organisers handed over donations to Bergsig High School, Huis Joanna Old Age Home and the Balele Resort,” explained JJ Janeke of Boanerges MCC.
Bikers were also kept entertained by so-called biker singer, Freddie Spires.
On April 2, a mass ride was hosted from the caravan park to Bergsig High, which included two professional stunt riders, who performed daring tricks for the crowds.
The fun continued at the resort, with the Biker Games and a performance by Piet Pompies of DJ Ossewa fame.
“No Rules MCC was the biggest club in attendance, and its member, Lienke Venske took the crown of Miss Balele 2016.”
Organisers thanked each biker who contributed toward the Duncan Will Walk campaign, as well as sponsors, entertainers and guests who made the rally a success.
“We hope to see you at the Balele Rally next year!”
