New Age of Newcastle (NAON)

All NAON members are invited to attend a workshop every Thursday from 10am to 3pm. Free sewing classes will be offered. A hot lunch will be served to all NAON members.

Primary Health Care Clinic AGM

September 30 – Members of the public are welcome to attend the Primary Health Care Clinic for its annual general meeting at 9am.

The meeting will take place in the Clinic’s Board Room, and new members will be selected to serve on the Clinic Board.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the overnight service which was set to take place on October 1 has been cancelled.

Navaratri celebration

October 1 – The Newcastle Siva Subramanian Temple invites you to participate in the Navaratri celebration which will be observed by the temple until October 10.

The service will be held daily from 6pm and all are welcome to attend.

New Life Church

October 1 – New Life Gospel Church will be hosting a Youth Bible Quiz, at Newcastle High School, from 9am. Ages three to 19 are welcome to enter. Children can rap, recite a Psalm verse or sing. Prizes to be won. Entrance is free. A tuck shop will be available.

The Ramakrishna Newcastle Sub-Centre

October 1 – Navaratri celebrations will commence and culminate with Vijay Dashmi on October 11.

The Sri Sri Durga Puja and Hawan will be held on Sunday, October 9. Satsang will commence at 6.30pm during the week and at 4pm during weekends.

The programme for the celebration will include chanting, rituals, bhajans, kirtans, discourses, hawan and aarti.

All are welcome to attend.

HPS Temple celebrates Navaratri

1-8 October: Navaratri will be celebrated at the HPS Temple every evening from 6pm.

The Shri Durga Saptshati will be recited during this period. On October 9, Pundit Suresh Maharaj and Pundit Magan Maharaj will commence with the hoisting of the Jundha and the Saraswathie poojas at 2.30pm. All welcome. Supper will be served.

Sat-Chit-Ananda temple society of Newcastle

October 1 – 11 – Maha Navarthri will be held at the temple, and the programme will commence as follows:

– Daily Abishaikum will commence at 5.30pm on weekdays, and weekends at 4.30pm.

– Daily programme will commence at 6.30pm on weekdays, and weekends at 5.30pm.

The following pujas will be observed:

– Bandhi puja and Durga Saptasati recitals.

– Saraswathi puja on October 8 for students.

– Bheek and Mother’s Yatra on October 9 from 8am. Come and receive Mother’s blessing. Watch and listen for the Yatra in your respective area.

– Kanya Puja on October 9.

– Agni Hotra on October 10.

– Vishay Dasmi on October 11 (corner of Dixon and St Thomas street).

– 108 petal offerings daily (Please bring 108petals).

Johovah’s Witness 2016 Loyalty ConventionOctober 7 to October 9 – Johovah’s Witnesses will be hosting a three-day Remain Loyal To Jehovah convention at the Volksrust High School sports grounds.

Newcastle Lutheran Congregation Christmas market

December 3 – The Newcastle Lutheran Congregation will be hosting it’s second Christmas Market, from 9am to 2pm, at 15 Ouklip Street, Hutten Heights.

Stalls stock specialty goods and shoppers can find the perfect Christmas gifts.

There will be live entertainment on the day, bringing Christmas cheer to the shoppers.

Hindi Pracharni Sabha

Members of the community are invited to attend satsang on Tuesdays from 6pm to 7pm. Ramayan recital classes are held every Sunday from 9am to 10.30am. Hinduism for children’s programme

The Ramakrishna Newcastle Sub-Centre conducts the Hinduism for children’s educational programme every Thursday, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm at the sub centre. The programme encompasses pre-school to matric classes, whereby the different aspects of Hinduism, including Ramayana and the Bhagavad Gita are discussed.

Transport will be provided and light snacks will be served. The sub centre encourages all parents to send their children to the classes regularly.
