Hindi Pracharni Sabha Temple celebrations

October 1 – 10 – Navaratri will be celebrated at the Hindi Pracharni Sabha Temple every evening from October 1 to October 8, from 6pm. The Shri Durga Saptshati will be recited during this period.

October 9 – Pundit Suresh Maharaj and Pundit Magan Maharaj will commence with the hoisting of the Jundha and the Saraswathie poojas at 2.30pm.

October 10 – Shri Durga Nuamee will be conducted at 6pm.

The community is invited to participate in the ceremony. Supper will be served.

Sat-Chit-Ananda Temple Society

October 1 – 11 – Maha Navarthri will be held at the temple, and the programme will be as follows:

– Daily Abishaikum will commence at 5.30pm on weekdays, and weekends at 4.30pm.

– Daily programme will commence at 6.30pm on weekdays, and weekends at 5.30pm.

The following pujas will be observed:

– Bandhi puja and Durga Saptasati recitals.

October 8 – Saraswathi puja for students.

October 9- Bheek and Mother’s Yatra will take place from 8am. Come and receive Mother’s blessing. Watch and listen for the Yatra in your respective area.

October 9 – Kanya Puja.

October 10 – Agni Hotra.

October 11 – Vishay Dasmi (corner of Dixon and St Thomas street).

– 108 petal offerings daily (Please bring 108petals).

All are welcome, and supper will be served.

CANSA Relay for Life

October 15 – The annual CANSA Relay For Life will take place. Entries for teams are now available. For more information, contact Siphelelisiwe Mabaso on 034 315 1751.

Hindi Pracharni Sabha

The community is invited to attend satsang every Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm. Ramayan recital classes are held every Sunday from 9am to 10.30am. Contact Ramesh on 082 885 1190 or Vinod on 072 258 9992 for more information.

Hindi classes are held every evening for children and adults. Students are registered with the Hindi Shiksha Sangh, should they wish to write the National examinations. Contact Shamilla on 076 933 0655 for details.

Diwali Show

October 15 – The Newcastle Diwali Show committee has begun with planning.

With an exciting vision and lots of new ideas, this year’s show promises to be one of the best ever.

As the event is one of the highlights on the cultural calendar, the Diwali Show is a platform to showcase local talent and allows people of all ages to convene.

The show will reflect cultural vibrancy.

Community groups and religious institutions are invited to participate in the celebrations.

Food and shopping stalls, children’s entertainment and a car sound competition will make for a festive atmosphere.

Evening entertainment will be provided by a show band.

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings take place every Thursday at 7pm at the Methodist Church on 64 Harding Street.
