Gear up for Newcastle townships art festival?
The Newcastle Creative Network is geared up to inspire people of all ages to embrace their cultural identity. Much emphasis is placed on the festival as it has been highlighted as an avenue for steady growth and has been the host of quality workshops.
MADADENI – The fifth annual Township Arts Festival is set to take place from November 25 – 27 in Madadeni Section 1 and 4.
The Newcastle Creative Network is geared up to inspire people of all ages to embrace their cultural identity. Much emphasis is placed on the festival as it has been highlighted as an avenue for steady growth and has been the host of quality workshops.

Community members, art lovers and artists are invited to attend this event at no entry fee (excluding the opening event).
The festival will start at Ekasi Lounge in Madadeni Section 1 on November 25. Entrance for this day is R30 per person, which will allow access to the thrilling line-up of poetry, music and comedy shows.
Day two, November 26 will boast various exhibitions, workshops and fashion shows that will take place in Section 4 from 11am to 7pm. Live stage performances by local hip hop artists will entertain the crowds.
Day three, November 27 will promote local film works also at Section 4 from 1pm to 3pm.
This variety of free interactive activities and performances is designed to help youth find pride in the things that make them unique and to develop a knowledge of cultural activities. The festival includes specialised workshops from successful self-published author, Lunga Ntuli.

Activities will continue during the three-day festival, and a wide variety of food and refreshments will represent the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of the community.
