#ThrowBackThursday: The evolving look of the Newcastle Advertiser
Check out the transformation of the Newcastle Advertiser over the years.
Whether you use it to absorb a spillage, clean your vegetables on or simply teach your child to read it, newspapers have always been a part of many homes and lives.
Known as the “watchdog of the community” for more than a century, the Newcastle Advertiser has certainly evolved over the years.
Starting as a four-page spread in 1901, the Advertiser transcended from an advertising-focused sheet, to incorporating a total of 10 newspapers and a magazine.
In keeping up with the times, the Advertiser has developed its look, style and approach to accommodate a wider audience, offering our readers a diverse blend of news, entertainment, sport and interactive media week after week.
One aspect which remains constant and will not waiver at the Advertiser is continued accurate reporting, exposure of injustices and a platform to recognise the unsung heroes among us.
