June 16 – 18 – The village of Wakkerstroom will host the annual Arts and Crafts Ramble.
Enjoy sunny, crisp winter days where local, national and first time artists will be showing and selling their art and crafts in studios, halls or galleries around town.
Be inspired by the art and demonstrations, which encompass a range of skills from glass art, paintings, wirework, wood carving, recycling and hand crafts. There will even be artists working and displaying art from their own home studios. Many venues are within easy walking distance from the village centre.
Entrance to all venues is free. There will be daily demonstrations, courses and talks, some of which may require pre-booking or a nominal fee.
– The official opening of the ramble will take place on Friday, June 16, where well known contemporary artist Gordon Froud will give a brief talk and open the ramble.
– There will be an auction of art and other items on Saturday, June 17 and all profits go to a chosen charity, and this year it is Reach for a Dream.
– The art ramble runs alongside the Mountain Run Walk Challenge which will take place on Saturday morning, so there is something for everyone in the family to do.
For the rest of the time, you can enjoy drinks and dinners next to a cosy log fire.
Make the long weekend an excuse to enjoy a visit with your friends and family.
Book accommodation early so you are not disappointed. Bring along your winter woollies, and receive a warm welcome from local residents.
