It’s not all French to these players
"Our players were in awe of the rugby facilities at the Battlefields Sports Resort, a level and standard that does not even exist in France where we regularly tour!

Following successful rugby camp stays by touring teams from New Zealand, France and England, the Battlefields Sports Resort at Battlefields Country Lodge can now add Reunion Island to their growing list of international teams choosing to stay in Dundee. The Etange Sale Rugby Club under 18 rugby team recently spent two nights of their first South African rugby tour at the Battlefields Sports Resort.
Here are the thoughts and views of the Reunion Island head coach who is also a French national selector, Patrick Desmoulins:
“We are one of eight rugby clubs in Reunion Island which is supported and funded by the French Rugby Union. Our u/18 team has been fundraising for over a year to achieve our dream of playing rugby in the closest rugby Super Power, South Africa!”Although the main goal of the tour was to experience South African rugby, we also wished to spend time training and preparing for our two tour matches against Kearsney College and Sarel Cilliers High School.
“Our players were in awe of the rugby facilities at the Battlefields Sports Resort, a level and standard that does not even exist in France where we regularly tour!
I would also like to thank all the staff who warmly welcomed our team and made us feel at home. We will definitely be returning to Reunion Island motivated to send more teams to the sports resort!”
The islanders went on to play against Sarel Cilliers in a curtain raiser to the Sharks/Kings Super 16 game at Kings Park and went down 72 12 to the Glenconians.
