Religious retreat hosted by Anand Marga of South Africa
More than 50 members from Durban, Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Newcastle, Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe were in attendance.
The Ananda Marga South Africa – Newcastle branch held a national retreat from April 14 to 17 at Snips Bird Park Accommodation.
More than 50 members from Durban, Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Newcastle, Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe were in attendance.
The presence of Acarya’s (monks) from India, Nairobi and the Philippines was also appreciated.
The annual retreat was held in various parts of the country. The programme involved meditation, yoga asanas and classes, and guests were treated to delicious vegetarian and detox meals. Monks and nuns enlightened guests on spirituality and yoga asanas, as the theme was to realise the joy of one’s highest self.
Highlights of the retreat included Indian dances, spiritual kirtans and Prabhat Samgiit (songs of the new dawn), written by Prabhat Sankar, who wrote more than 5 000 songs.
Topics covered were bhakti Yoga, Progressive Utilisation Theory of Resources, life, death and Samskara by Ac Diiptimayananda, yoga asanas and kirtans. The organisers of the event thanked those who attended the retreat.
