TECH TUESDAY: The Sims on your smartphone

A new The Sims title was soft launched in Brazil, and the rest of the world is waiting.

Do you know your MYSHUNO from your WooHoo?

Chances are if you’re well versed in Simlish, you’ll be stoked to hear of a new mobile and free-to-play addition to the acclaimed The Sims franchise by developer, Maxis and publisher, Electronic Arts.

This title has been appropriately named The Sims Mobile.

In the beginning of May, The Sims YouTube channel released a soft launch trailer featuring all of the usual favourites of the series: home building, social interaction and character design.

However, many newer features have also been included.

One such feature is the establishing of a matriarch and patriarch, which leads to the raising of a family tree and the handing-down of heirlooms and talents alike.

The social aspect has also gone a step further.

From what the trailer hints at, The Sims Mobile will allow for interaction between virtual avatars across games and possibly devices.

Another rumoured feature is rewards for extensive play.

According to a number of articles on the Internet, careers and other boons will be granted to players depending on the time spent on the game.

Those with cash to burn can also make in-game purchases.

While there has been no update on the estimated release date of The Sims Mobile, the game was soft launched in Brazil two weeks ago.

We’re holding thumbs for a global release soon!
