GALLERY: Scouts are rewarded for their efforts

Reflecting on the past year, Troop Scouter Warren Seegers explained while there were certain changes in the ranks of the organisation, its numbers had remained constant at 17.

Closing off the year, 3rd Newcastle Scouts held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and prize-giving on Thursday, October 26.

Reflecting on the past year, Troop Scouter Warren Seegers explained while there were certain changes in the ranks of the organisation, its numbers had remained constant at 17.

“The members and their parents have been supportive, and I thank them all for their efforts throughout the year.”

During the Cubs report, Pack Scouter Charmaine de Swardt said she was glad to report the Cubs had gone from strength to strength.

“The Cubs have really grown in themselves. The number of members have increased, and our camp was a success.”

While both the Cubs and Scouts showed promise in their personal development, the organisation’s finances were a cause of concern. Due to the small number of members, it was deemed necessary to host more fund-raising initiatives and parents were encouraged to give as much support as possible.

Despite the finances, the organisation was said to be running efficiently and it was sure to continue for years to come. The Cubs and Scouts were then rewarded with certificates and trophies for their efforts during 2017, which sent a sense of pride surging through the Scout Hall.
