We all know that little flu bug way too well.
It creeps up on us like a thief in the night, and before you know it you are man down, feeling like a truck has driven over you.
However, an expensive trip to the doctor, who is just going to tell you have flu, is not always necessary.
Sometimes all you need are a few kitchen ingredients to help speed up the healing process, without forking out large sums of money in the process.

Below is a list of five, natural home remedies believed to help fight off the nasty flu.
1. Raw garlic and honey tea mix:
Garlic has immense healing properties when it comes to the body’s natural healing process. It sounds gross, but adding honey to the mix allows an easier swallow, especially for children. Boil water, add garlic and honey, and get some rest in while the mixture soothes your symptoms.
2. A good old fashioned face steam:
The face steam method is a great way to loosen congestion and soothe a sore throat and sinus. Boil two cups of water, then add two teaspoons of rosemary, thyme and oregano. Place your face over the pot while covering your head with a towel, and breathe the steam for about 15 minutes or more.
3. Fresh lemon and ginger tea:
Both these ingredients are excellent for respiratory problems and sore throats. Boil 250ml of water. Squeeze all the juice out of a lemon and add it to the water. Then add a sliced piece of fresh ginger to the mix and stir for about five minutes. You can either drink it hot or wait for it cool down.
4. Fresh peppermint:
Fresh peppermint is believed to help fight off really nasty fevers. This can either be boiled with hot water or ingested as a tea, or you can crush it and use it as a paste, which can be rubbed on the forehead. Either way, it is supposed to work like a charm.
5. Get in that healthy dose of vitamin C:
Vitamin C is obviously good for anyone, and therefore it only seems obvious that it is also a natural flu remedy, right? Make sure to get as much Vitamin C in as possible in order to feel better faster.
