Riding the trails at the dam

Pre-entries close at midday on April 19

The weekend of April 20 sees the return of the Bushman’s Trail Run at Wagendrift Dam, Estcourt.

This multi-stage trail running event, organised by KZN Trail Running and Estcourt Athletics Club, saw its inauguration in September last year.

Despite extreme weather conditions, the race was a huge success and this year promises awesome routes with stunning views of the Berg, the dam and local farmland.

The event is set to kick off on the Friday afternoon, with campers setting up, a nighttime fun-run and a bring ‘n braai.

There will be a food truck selling braai packs and other delicious eats throughout the weekend, while Exploring Coffee and The Great Railroad Brewing Company will have various roasts and brews for sale.

Saturday morning sees the start of the 5km, 10km and 20km races, with the fun continuing into the afternoon and evening with live music performances.

Sunday’s events include 5km, 10km, 20km and 30km races, with the final prize-giving taking place late morning.

A KidZone will be available on both days, where kids can play and have fun under a watchful eye while parents are out on the routes.

Pre-entries close at midday on April 19. For more information regarding times, entry fees and accommodation, visit www.kzntrailrunning.co.za
