Miss Mayfair 2018 will be crowned this Saturday
This Saturday, the 12th Miss Mayfair pageant, hosted annually by the Vryheid Lion’s Club, will take place at the Cecil Emmett Hall.

THE Miss Mayfair title means so much more than good appearance and great fashion sense… It is the pride of officially opening the biggest and best-supported charity drive and market on Vryheid’s calendar, the Mayfair.
It is also an opportunity to meet and converse with Vryheid’s first citizen, Mayor Jerry Sibiya, over tea and cake, and raise issues pertinent to the community in general, and the youth in particular.

Event organiser and member of the Lion’s Club, Cindy Mossop, says judges will be looking at self-confidence above all else.
“There is R10 000 worth of amazing prizes to be won and the pageant is great fun,” said Mrs Mossop, encouraging potential contestants to enter.
Girls between the ages of 3 and 20 may enter and will be judged within their respective age category. The closing date for entry is April 27. Contact Mrs Mossop on 082 877 4966 for more information.

Talking about what residents can look forward to at this year’s Mayfair, which will take place on May 4 and 5, Mrs Mossop said, “We have many new exhibitors at this year’s Mayfair. These include a Tupperware stall, Herbalife, hunting gear, waffles on a stick, Tropika Smooth, chip ribbons, koekie hoekie, halaal foods and much more. In terms of entertainment, this year we have the Songololo train coming, and the Round Table will host a tea garden.”
Mrs Mossop advised that extra police presence had been requested in order to ensure the safety of Mayfair patrons, and all children will be required to wear a wristband with their parent’s contact details on, to enable organisers to contact parents easily if their children are lost. These wristbands will be available at the entrance.
The Vryheid Herald understands that hours of hard work go into organising and hosting the Mayfair and would like to thank the Vryheid Lions Club for all it does to support the underprivileged in the community.
