Vryheid’s first Poker Run will benefit cash strapped NPO’s
Not only will this event bring some excitement for bikers and Poker enthusiasts, but it will also assist two struggling local organisations with some much needed funds.
LOCAL pub owner, Michael Phytides, will be hosting an event with a difference in Vryheid.
Not only will this event bring some excitement for bikers and Poker enthusiasts from Vryheid and surrounding areas, but it will also assist two struggling local organisations with some much needed funds.
Phytides, who is constantly on the look out for ways to give back to the community who supports him, has offered to close his kitchen on the day of the event and has invited Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch, as well as Vryheid SPCA, to provide the catering for the Ella Mera Poker Run 2018, the first of its kind for Vryheid. Each organisation will keep all the proceeds of their sales for the day and, if the Poker Run is well supported, that could mean a much needed boost for each of the NGO’s.

The Poker Run will take place on June 2 and Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch will be selling wors rolls while Vryheid SPCA will sell hamburgers outside of the popular pub which looks set to be packed with bikers, from far and wide, who will be taking part in the competition.
“Times are tough for everyone,” says Michael Phytides. “But if we can all step in and do our bit to assist our local organisations, like Neighbourhood Watch and the SPCA, we can all benefit from the service that they provide to the community. We should all do what we can to help keep them running. See you all at the Poker Run,” he adds with a smile.
