#FreshTake: Growing up too fast?
The truth is that some of our societal problems are an influence of the pressures of our childhood

They say that girls are made to worry about their appearance and boys are pushed into “macho” behaviour at too young an age.
Just last week a comedian posted on their social media the following: “Kids at the age of 13 and 14 walk down the road hand-in-hand, at that age I was running home to watching the Cool Cats show.”
Yes, it got a chuckle out of me but it also made me ponder whether children are really growing up to fast.
Is childhood really over for many children by the age of 12?

Is the little boy or girl in you well fed or are you still angry that you had to mature quickly to babysit your other siblings or even raise them? Were you called stupid often?
Asked not to be a cry baby when wanting to express your feelings?
Did you feel pressured to change the way you dressed, to have different friends and change the kind of things you enjoyed to fit in? The truth is that some of our societal problems are an influence of the pressures of our childhood.
You might agree that you recall playing with spin tops, collecting those colour changing cereal spoons and climbing trees.
