Movie set in Wembezi ready for release
Get your hands on a copy of this local drama filled movie on April 25
Drama from the small streets of the Wembezi township is set to hit the big screens this week.
A movie entitled ‘uMalumekazi Uyinkinga’ tells of a troubled family whose, as the title suggests, aunt is a problem.

Set in Wembezi, the all-local cast consists of Zama Makhathini, Thandazile Mazibuko, Nathi Ndlovu, Andiswa Xoliswa Mkhize, Ma Bee the poet, Bongumusa ‘Gebisto’ Zulu, Bongumusa Mabele and Zibuse Mdlolo, all under the wing of producer Sihle Ntshaba.
Speaking to the Estcourt News, cast member Bongumusa ‘Gebisto’ Zulu described the one-hour 12-minute movie to be a true depiction of what happens in some households in the rural areas.
The story is a drama and the characters go through tales of abuse, deception and even murder.
“uMalumekazi Uyinkinga is a movie that shows people the life we are living. People live in abusive environments and often no one helps. We want to show this to the world,” said Mr Zulu.
The movie is shot by Wembezi Multi-Production, a small business from the township that aims at promoting small towns.
If you want to see this all-local drama, it is being released on April 25 and will be on sale at the taxi rank in Alexandra Street.
