Evacuation drill at municipal offices proves successful

Exercises like this allow organisations to identify and correct weaknesses in evacuation plans and verify the functionality of safety equipment

An evacuation drill staging the scenario of a fire in the main building of the Ngwathe Local Municipality, was held earlier this morning to test preparedness and efficient evacuation in case of an emergency.

The initiative led by  Director Community Services, Mojabeng Makibinyane, and attended by the Executive Mayor, MMC for Community Services, as well as the management team of Ngwathe, was a first in years for the municipality and applauded for being executed successfully with the oversight of the Ngwathe Fire and Rescue Service.

By simulating emergencies, these drills allow organisations to identify and correct weaknesses in evacuation plans, verify the functionality of safety equipment, and ensure all occupants—including those requiring assistance—understand their specific roles and assembly points, ultimately ensuring compliance with legal safety requirements.
